"The Regional Strategy for the Northwest provides a unique opportunity to bring together its spatial, economic, social and environmental strategies and build a new long term vision for the region." Northwest Regional Strategy website

Krata and VSNW have been asked by NWDA to co-ordinate a consultation with the Voluntary and Community sector on the Northwest Regional Strategy. We are focused on the Principles and Issues paper which lays out the key ideas that will underpin the strategy. By responding to this Paper, voluntary and community groups, organisations and individuals can further help shape the development of the North West region.

Who can get involved in the Voluntary and Community Sector consultation?
Residents, community groups, community facing organisations, infrastructure organisations, community thinkers can provide different perspectives on the current and future needs of people across the North West. Opinions are welcomed through the Northwest Regional Strategy website, via email directly to the NWDA, or through the VCS Consultation process.

VSNW are working together with Krata to facilitate the VCS part of the Northwest Regional Strategy consultation. We will draw all the feedback together to produce an overview of the Third Sector response to the strategy.

Why participate in the Voluntary and Community Sector consultation?
NWDA and 4NW are keen to elicit opinion on the future of the region from the diverse communities that live, work and play here. The strategy is their most ambitious yet - the first overarching regional strategy in the country, bringing together economic, housing and spatial strategies. Similarly, the consultation process is their most extensive to date.

The Voluntary and Community sector has a golden opportunity to show the value of consulting communities, to provide valuable insight and guidance to the Northwest Regional Strategy team as they develop a robust strategy for the region. If the Voluntary and Community Sector consultation provides valuable input to the development of the strategy, we will have established a method of working with the regional agencies which can be used again and again.
