100 Months Club

Krata supported the establishment of 100 Months Club, a new initiative to bring together senior decision makers across the Manchester city region and the North West to explore ways of accelerating action on climate change.

In March 2008, 40 business leaders met for the 100 Months Club inaugural event to discuss key challenges around climate change, listening to talks from

- Tony Lloyd MP,
- David Anderson, CEO, Cooperative Financial Services,
- Peter Mount, Chairman, Central Manchester and Manchester Children's University Hospitals NHS Trust,
- Susan Woodward, Managing Director, Granada ITV
- Pete Bradshaw, Social Affairs Manager, Manchester City Football Club
- Councillor Neil Swannick, Executive Member, Environment & Planning, Manchester City Council
- Rt. Hon Hilary Benn MP, Secretary of State, Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.

In October 2008, we supported another event for 100 Months Club, this time discussing innovation and the low carbon economy hosted at Manchester Metropolitan University to close their Zero Carbon Offices event.

The 100 Months Club event brought together over 50 delegates from academia, the private, public and third sectors to discuss linking low carbon innovation to low carbon delivery. Speakers included:

- Steve Turner, Commission for Economic Development, Employment and Skills with an overview of the context set by the Mini Stern Report.
- Lucy Powell from NESTA on the Big Green Challenge and the need for open collaboration to achieve successful innovation.
- ‘The Barefoot Entrepreneur’ – Dawn Gibbins MBE described how sustainability can benefit a multi-million pound business.

Delegates also discussed how cross disciplinary, cross sectoral open collaboration was essential to addressing climate change.
