Manchester Sessions

Krata wants to encourage and participate in more philosophical debate about life and everything in Manchester. While there are many interesting conversations among organisations, there is little opportunity for individuals to come together to discuss topics that interest them outside the context of their work. While Thinkingwomen provides a space for women to come together, the Manchester Sessions has a different flavour.

A collaboration between Neil McInroy, Jon Lovell, Steve Connor and Jessica Symons has resulted in a proposal for a series of small intense discussions following the thinktank tradition of providing a space outside the usual work contexts. We want to think Manchester through the whirl of emotions, of the city as a place where people feel, as well as live.

So far we have pegged Fear (Steve), Hope (Neil), Love (Jess) and possibly Pride (Jon). People will be invited based on their profession, expertise or area of interest and participate in a armchair discussion facilitated by one of us. 'The Manchester Sessions' will be in collaboration with each of our organisations. We hope to record them either with film or audio to disseminate more widely, with, of course, a website.

The first Manchester Session will be on Fear sometime in July with Love and Hope coming in September.
